1 day course: Introduction to public service and safe practice

 

A challenging course aimed at new or inexperienced staff in all central or local government environments.

 

This course introduces the ideals and principles of public service and is the keystone of our unique 6 day training programme on safe and professional practice for statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations including: health, police, social work, tourism, education, residential care, early years, older people services, housing, homeless, substance misuse services, community safety, leisure, youth, community services and entertainment.

It provides an excellent platform for people embarking on a career in public service  and for those preparing to undertake in associated SVQ/NVQ 2 and 3 Awards adding value to the induction process for new staff.

Each participant receives a marked Knowledge Check with which to help develop their performance needs with their line manager or SVQ Assessor.

 By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of what is meant by safe practice
  • Identify  core social service competencies
  • Demonstrate how social service competencies relate to safe practice
  • Explain the meaning of professional boundaries
  • Describe some techniques for keeping safe
  • Identify actions to take when confronted by unsafe practice

Cost: £95 per person

Hospitality: Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Travel and overnight accommodation can be arranged at reduced rates, if required.
