1 day course: Management Theory, Principles and Practice

This one day management course provides an excellent grounding in management theory and how this relates to everyday management practice.

You will explore organisational cultures and understand what drives and motivates you and others within your work place.

By learning the art of effective delegation and communication this course will help get rid of that “monkey on your back” whilst building a reputation for sound leadership and coaching.

This is a stimulating course, interactive and peppered with practical tools that will provide a useful resource bank for your everyday work.

The course is suitable for all managers but is particularly relevant to, newly appointed managers, individuals seeking a management post for the first time, or experienced managers wanting to reflect on their current management approaches.

 By the end of the course participants will be able to:

• Explain Key elements of management theory
• Describe the drivers that motivate self and others in the workplace
• Explain the meaning of organisational culture and how this impacts on the workforce and the role of the manager
• Identify the key elements of effective leadership, delegation and decision making
• Explain the principles of effective communication and conflict management
• Describe the core elements of effective supervision and coaching
• Demonstrate an understanding of the principles that underpin effective teamwork and how to develop a framework for team building
