Blue Skye is committed to breaking down traditional barriers to
training.
Training can provoke different responses from different people. Some are
excited by the prospect; others might have their enthusiasm dampened by
the practicalities of simply getting to the venue.
Many course participants will travel by car and that’s fine. Others want
or need to travel by rail. For those wanting to use the train, we can
offer free pick ups from the nearest station to our venues and back
again.
This service only applies to our Scottish venues and is on condition of
the normal rail timetable published at least one week in advance of the
course. A further condition is that the Blue Skye transport leaves the
station in time for the start of the course, so anyone deciding to
dawdle or perhaps have breakfast or a coffee at a nearby Bistro will
have to be careful to avoid paying their own fares!
Staying over is also a problem for some people and there are many
reasons for this. Sometimes, the problem is personal – child care or
looking after an elderly relative. Sometimes the issue is about
constraints at work – shift systems, cost and attitudes of managers or
colleagues. Often, people wanting to go on training courses are
reluctant to ask because it might involve staying over and how this
might be interpreted within the work place.
But
spending the night before or during the training is both a challenge and
a bonus for course participants and can have huge benefits in terms of
the participant’s learning and overall attitude to the work of their
organisation. We are quite happy to discuss the benefits of staying over
or residential courses with managers before they decide to approve day
or overnight attendance on our course.
For
those that do decide on the accommodation option, Blue Skye can often
arrange
excellent accommodation at discounted rates between 20 – 25%, with bed
and breakfast at some venues costing as little as £40 per night per
person.
